Ana Gimeno

Ana Gimeno obtained her BSc in Chemistry from the University of Valencia (Spain) and completed her PhD in Chemistry at the same institution in 2014. In 2015, Dr. Gimeno joined the Chemical Glycobiology Lab at CIC bioGUNE (Prof. J. Jiménez-Barbero) as a postdoctoral researcher, where she worked applying NMR spectroscopy to investigate the binding of glycans to relevant human lectins and antibodies. In 2020, she moved to Utrecht University (Prof. GJ Boons) to focus on bioconjugation methodologies and chemo-enzymatic synthesis of glycoproteins. In 2023, she returned to CIC bioGUNE, and since 2024 she holds the position of Emerging Scientist as a Ramón y Cajal & Ikerbasque Research Fellow. Using a chemical perspective, her research focuses on deciphering the structural details and energetics of glycan-lectin interactions to address socially relevant biomedical questions.
